newspapers and even TV will provide you with all the information you need
to know about financial services.
"Since 1989, the student-counselor ratio in California has increased almost 25 percent. Clearly, more counseling is done by fewer people. These high numbers severely limit student access to academic advising, and the student uncertain, of his/her academic options, has few opportunities to meet individually with an academic counselor."
"At Westchester High School, I am responsible for a caseload of 2,100 students; my senior class size is 420. Seniors hungry for information meet me at my car in the morning, line up at morning break and at lunch to see me, and stay after school. Counselors have to cope with issues such as drug and alcohol abuse, suicide, violence, gangs, pregnancy, poverty, fractured families, and multicultural tensions. Counselors are spending more time providing crisis intervention and meeting the needs of high-risk students. Counselors are asked to supervise lunch yards and perform security checks. Counselors deal with troubled students whose problems must be resolved before real learning occurs."
